September 6-Experiencing Contentment and Joy Within Your Circumstances

Yesterday we hit 117 degrees in my Southern California city. The heat was intense, and we had to spend most of the day indoors. Cali could not play outside with her bone, so we improvised, and I threw her bone on the kitchen floor and down the hallway. It was not the same as playing outside where she had a lot of room to run, however, Cali made the most of it and ran with joy.

Paul stated, “…I have learned to be content in whatever circumstance I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:11-13).

During our time of isolation, I would encourage you to look around and ask God to show you a bright spot within your surroundings. Do not only ask Him to show you something for which you can be thankful but ask God to reveal how you can be creative and have fun with what you have. Trust God to help you stay content and joyful within your circumstances.
