September 19-Standing at the Gate

Every time Cali and I finish a run, she stands at the gate and waits patiently for me to let her in the back yard. Cali does not realize that the gate is unlock and with a gentle nudge of her nose the gate would easily swing open.

Matthew 7:7 states, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (NAS).

I wonder how many times we stand at life’s gate waiting for God to answer a prayer in some miraculous way when we could easily walk through it. That might sound a bit trite, however, I have learned that many hardships in life are not as difficult as we think. Sometimes, only a shift in attitude can completely change our perspective toward a difficult situation. Other times, a little elbow grease can do wonders in solving a problem.

If you are facing a difficult situation, I would encourage you not to worry, stop standing at the gate, and give it a little nudge.
