Unfortunately, I have not taken Cali on any canyon runs due to the wildfires. As a result, Cali has been very bored. I take her on runs within the city but that is not quite the same as running freely in the hills. To make things worse for Cali, the daytime temperatures have been hot. Cali, however, has made the best of it by lying on the kitchen floor. The floor is tiled and has become Cali’s cool alternative to her outdoor adventures.
Psalm 42:5 states, “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence” (NAS).
Our COVID-19 lock-down and our mountain wildfires have certainly put a damper on things. Many plans and activities have had to cancel due to these calamities. It is easy in times like this to become depressed, worried, and unmotivated. I would encourage you to stay hopeful. This all will eventually pass. God sees you right where you are, and He understands your situation. Ask God to give you strength and in the meantime, ask Him to provide you with a cool alternative.
