Cali and I experienced a major disappointment today. We planned to take a mountain bike ride in one of our nearby canyons. I loaded my bike, my biking gear, and Cali into the van. The cool morning air heightened our excitement. As we approached the mouth of the canyon, a big sign flashed, “Canyon Closed!” I wept and Cali howled. I apologized to Cali, and I told her that we would take a run when we got home.
After I parked in the driveway, I unloaded Cali, leashed her up, and headed off down the street. Suddenly, Cali was in full running mode. She suddenly forgot about our canyon disappointment and ran with pure joy. We eventually veered off the sidewalk and headed down the PE trail. It wasn’t the canyon; however, Cali didn’t mind a bit.
Psalm 22:5 states, “To You they cried out and were delivered; in You they trusted and were not disappointed” (NAS). Have you experienced a disappointment? They can rob us of life and energy. If something has disappointed you, talk to God about it and place your trust in Him. God is good and will promise to give you an alternate trail.
