We were cutting tree limbs at my mother in law’s house when Cali found a treasure. It was a large cow bone that had laid buried for quite some time. The bone looked old, worn, and gross. However, for Cali, it was a treasure. To make Cali’s treasure look more unbecoming, she was enjoying it in a pile of dead leaves. Cali had found a soft place to enjoy her new-found treat. Prior to the Israelites entering the promised land, Joshua spoke to the people. In Joshua 1:9 he states, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (NAS). Do you feel as though you are living in a pile of dead leaves where everything around you appear wrong? During these times, try to look for a buried treasure. God has promised to always be with us and that He will never leave us. Wherever God is, there is beauty. Let God open you eyes today and let Him lead you to a bone in your pile of leaves.
