June 27-A Surprise in the Bushes

Cali and I were hiking yesterday in our mountains when Cali honed-in on some surprise in the bushes. She went into hunter mode and carefully approached the hillside. Cali’s sense of smell and the accurateness of her eyesight are incredible. I was rather certain she had found something. I knew rattle snakes made their home in these hills, so I carefully listened to that distinctive rattle they make with their tails. The last thing I wanted, was to carry a 68-pound snake-bitten dog down the mountain.

Whatever caught Cali’s attention must have disappeared since she soon lost interest and continued jogging up the road. Every turn in the road and every bush seemed to hold some fascination for Cali. Despite the heat, she remained energetic and playful.

Lamentations 3:22-23 states, “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness “(NAS).

God created our world for enjoyment and exploration. He wants us to appreciate life and experience all He has for us. I would encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and explore something new in nature. It may be a park, a trail, a beach, or an undeveloped part of the city. You never know how God can use that experience to find a surprise in the bushes.
