June 23-Lying in the Summer Heat

Summer has come and the temperature has risen. Cali and I went on a walk this morning to beat the afternoon heat. When we came back, we both felt hot and sweaty. As the day trudged on, it got hotter and hotter. By mid-afternoon, Cali’s energy had drained. She could only lie on the patio and let the heat escape her body.

Little did Cali know the high temperature would break and the cool afternoon breeze would sweep through our backyard energizing Cali to maximum levels.

Do you feel drained? Not by the heat of summer but by life. I am sure we have all had times when our energy for life has drained. We see the world spin around us, and everyone appears happy and energetic. For us, however, we only want to lie still with our eyes closed.

Isaiah 43:18-19 states, “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.

I would like to encourage you if you relate with Cali’s lethargy. Claim Isaiah 43:18-19 and ask God to do something new for you. Ask Him to refresh your mind, body, and soul. Give Him all your requests. He is listening right now. Go ahead; don’t be afraid; ask; and stop lying in the summer heat.
