June 2-A Hiding Place

Cali loves to explore our back yard. Having lived in our house 42 years, one can say our yard has matured into a beautiful oasis. This is primarily thanks to Kim. She has a great eye for plants and trees. We love to sit and eat on the patio while watching the various critters and birds. The other day, I finished working in the front yard and came around to the back. I could not find Cali. I called for her several times thinking she had gone out front. It was not long until I heard the bushes rustle and out came Cali. She had found a nice cool and quiet place to rest and was almost hidden from sight.

Cali’s private spot made me think of God’s protection over us. Psalm 32:7 states, “You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance” (NAS). God has a special place for each of us. Whenever fear, doubt, depression, or anxiety comes our way, we can always take these issues to God. In taking our problems to Him we must be willing to talk with Him honestly and take time to listen to what He has to say.

As I interrupted Cali’s rest by my needless calling, our rest in Jesus can also get interrupted by the needless calls of fear and worry. Learn to rest in God’s hiding place. Make your times with God special and do not leave His garden too soon.
