I am giving Cali a day of rest. I wore Cali out after yesterday’s mountain bike run. I think we pushed it a bit too hard. Last night Cali appeared stiff and sore. She laid down and preferred not to move around. I thought I broke my dog. I wondered whether Cali would ever be the same. I apologized to her and told her to let me know next time if she needs to rest. She just gave me that dog look and I turned away in shame.
Today, she is better, frisky, but still not moving like her old self. I noticed a small abrasion on her front left paw. We put some ointment on it. I am certain that she will be up and running in no time.
Jesus sent His disciples on a missionary journey. He sent them out in pairs and told them to minister to the surrounding areas. After they got back, Jesus sent them away to a quiet place. Mark 6:31-32 states, “And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while…They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves” (NAS).
Sometimes we a break. God does not expect us to constantly work. The hard part in taking a rest is knowing how to rest. Ask God to give you rest. Ask Him to show you how, when, and where to find your special retreat. When you find that place, let God talk with you and let Him gently rub ointment on your paw.
