June 12-A Spoon Full of Peanut Butter

Have you ever given your dog a special gift of peanut butter? It is quite hilarious. Dogs love it; however, it sticks to their tongue and to the roof of their mouth. They work like crazy to get it off and down their throats. Their tongues flap in and out much like streamers in a fan. Even with all the work, they want more. Dogs are exceptionally good sports. You can laugh at them and yet they still love you.

Has God enriched you with a spiritual gift? When we receive Jesus Christ into our lives, he gives us spiritual gifts. 1st Corinthians 12:7 states, “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other” (NLT). God grants us spiritual gifts to empower the lives of other people. Spiritual gifts give us joy. In fact, gifts can come so naturally, and we can enjoy them so thoroughly, we might not always recognize them as a gift. Sometimes, God will take our personalities and talents and enhance them with His Holy Spirit at the time of salvation. The gift might also be something brand new to us.

We should not only use our gifts but develop them. In developing a gift, we must practice them over and over. The trouble lies when we eventually get tired of using the gift. When that happens, take a break, and ask God to renew your spirit. After all, He might be giving you a spoon full of peanut butter.
