Cali was extremely afraid of our backyard sprinkling system. At first, I was horrified at her behavior. I thought, “I have this powerful Alpha dog and she is afraid of water. What will my dog friends say? Her ‘manliness’ tanked (that might be an oxymoron).
We rescued Cali in February and had not watered our lawn for several months. When Spring approached and we started watering again, Cali could not understand why so much water gushed from the ground? She would go to the farthest corner of the patio and wait for the water to turn off.
Even though Cali is learning to ignore the sprinkling system, she does not like to get wet. Kim turned on our portable Rainbird this afternoon to water a hill area. As part of Cali’s water friendly training exercises, I threw her favorite toy bone next to the sprinkler. To our surprise, she dashed to the bone, carefully grabbed the tip, and ran off with her prize. We praised her for the amazing display of bravery.
Isaiah 41:10 states, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand" (NAS). What fears keep you from enjoying life? Are you afraid of taking a risk, tackling a new hobby, going on that dream vacation? Fears are usually lies that swirl around in our mind. Healthy fears are rational and seldom bring worry. Worry accompanied with fear equals defeat. Think about the fears you have. Do they bring worry? I would challenge you to just go for it! Step into your sprinkling system and grab your prize.
