July 7-Biting Off More Than You Can Chew

Kim bought Cali a large knuckle bone the other day. I gave it to her last night; she took it to the grass; she set it down; and she began gnawing on it. It did not take long before she figured out it was a bit too large. After a while, Cali lost interest and walked away.

Matthew 11:28 states, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (NAS).

For some of you, this time of quarantine might have given you perspective on your busy life prior to COVID-19. Perhaps you are spending more family time interacting with each other rather than running off in so many directions. For others, you might find this season of time just as hectic or even busier than before. In any case, Jesus tells us to take His yoke.

What does it mean to take His yoke? First off, we receive Jesus Christ as our personal lord and savior. We do this by simply asking Jesus into our life and accepting His forgiveness of our sins. Next, Jesus will give you His Holy Spirit who will guide you into right living. Third, God gave us His word, the Bible. Read it each day for wisdom, comfort, and peace. Do not let life give you a knuckle bone that makes you bight off more than you can chew.
