July 27-A Look in the Rear-View Mirror

Cali went to visit Kirby, her favorite friend dog, this morning. While getting ready to back out of the driveway, I looked in the rear-view mirror and noticed Cali waiting very impatiently to begin our travels. I turned around and snapped this picture.

Cali got me thinking about rear-view mirrors. We have a choice to make when we look at life’s rear-view mirror. We can view our past as something dreadful or we can look at it with thanksgiving.

Psalm 92:1 states, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High…” (NAS). Giving thanks is a willful expression to God for His goodness. Much of life does not depend upon our circumstances but upon our perspective of our circumstances.

Cali could have shown displeasure for having to make a 15-mile ride in the cramped quarters of our vehicle. Instead, she chose to focus on the end journey to see Kirby. Next time you look at life’s rear-view mirror, try not to focus on your cramped quarters but upon God’s love and grace.
