July 17-A Special Place on the Couch

Cali recently discovered the comforts of our couch. All it took after months of not letting her on it was one slip and up she went. All couch training went out the window. The other night, we let Cali inside to join us with family time. I quickly made my way toward the couch so she would not jump on it. Foiling my plot, Cali dashed past me and bolted onto the couch. Within the blink of an eye, she buried herself deep into the cushions and looked at me as if to say, “There is no way you are going to move me.” Her over-the-top behavior was almost disgusting. In the end, she won my heart and I bequeathed the couch over to Miss Cali.

Romans 8:1 states, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (NAS). When we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, He gives us an open invitation to His domain. We are immediately adopted as sons and daughters and have all household privileges.

Next time you feel unloved, neglected, or pushed aside try to remember that God has given you a special spot on His couch.
