July 16-Missing the Bunny Up Ahead

Cali and I went on a hike this morning in Lytle Creek canyon. Up ahead was a little, fluffy, and pudgy cotton tail bunny. I knew Cali would have the time of her life chasing it. The bunny would have easily escaped down the brushy hillside; nevertheless, Cali would have given it a good chase. I waited for Cali to make the charge, however, there was one problem. Cali was so interested in sniffing the bushes for something that had been, she completely missed the bunny up ahead. The bunny sat for awhile and stared at us; Cali kept sniffing the bushes; and I continued hiking up the road. The bunny eventually ran down the hillside. By the time Cali realized something had disappeared, it was too late. No bunny, no chase.

Ecclesiastes 7:10 states, “Don’t long for ‘the good old days.’” This is not wise (NLT). Have you ever found yourself living in the past? We can dwell on things of the past so much that we often miss the blessings and ministry God has for us right now. Do not spend time dwelling on the good old days. Next time you find yourself dreaming of them, stop and take inventory of the present. You might be missing the bunny up ahead.
