He Is Risen

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

APRIL 12-He is Risen

I could not help but look toward our mountains yesterday while I was walking Cali. We were drying out after a two-day rainstorm and snow had covered the mountains. Straight ahead was Cucamonga Peak which towers above the Inland Valley at 8,862 feet above sea level. Cucamonga Peak is a majestic sight, especially when it is covered with snow. The peak is not only a beautiful landmark, but it provides the valley people a spectacular hiking trail to the top. There was, however, one problem with Cucamonga Peak-I couldn’t see it. The mountain was covered with clouds. I knew the peak was there because I had seen it for many years, and I had often hiked to its top. Just because I couldn’t see the peak did not mean it wasn’t there. Hebrews 12:1-3 states, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (NAS). Jesus gave His life to take away the sin that separates us from fellowship with God. When we ask Jesus into our life and ask Him to forgive our sins-we are immediately forgiven, brought into the Family of God, and given the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit promises to guide us in all situations and to keep us secure in God’s hands. Perhaps, the most amazing gift of salvation is eternal life in Heaven. Even though you cannot see heaven right, know that it is waiting for you-just behind the clouds. May Jesus richly bless you this Easter Sunday.

Blessings,

Mervin
