August 5-Kitchen Lock-Down

Some time ago, Cali developed a weird quirk. When she gets overly excited, she will scratch the grass, kick up dirt, turn quickly around, and chase it. It is quite silly looking. When I use my weed-wacker in the back yard, it naturally kicks up dirt and grass which makes Cali go crazy. She begins scratching the lawn, kicking up dirt, and chasing it. Cali becomes her own weed-wacker. Because of Cali’s unusual antics, I must now keep her inside when I edge the back yard otherwise, she digs holes in the grass and kicks rocks and bark pieces across the lawn. Not only do the lawn holes look bad, but I am afraid the lawn mower will kick some of the rock and bark pieces into Cali.

Today was the first day of kitchen lock-down. Cali could not understand why I was prohibiting her from having fun. She wanted to come outside and dig up the lawn. I am sure Cali will never understand the reasoning for her unjust incarceration.

Psalm 121:7 states, The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.” Sometimes, God will say, “No” to a prayer. A no answer does not mean that God does not love us-it means that God, for whatever reason, feels it necessary to keep us from some unforeseen consequence.

Next time you feel discouraged due to an unanswered prayer, try to remember that God may have you in kitchen lock-down. It is for your good.
