After a morning run, Cali and Kirby like to refresh themselves in their favorite spot. Kirby likes to lay in the water and Cali likes to lay in the middle of Kim’s Butterfly Iris’. Both dogs refresh themselves in different ways. However, one of them would make Kim happier if she would find a different location.
Psalm 23:2 states, “He makes me lie down, in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters” (NAS). I have wondered about the phrase, “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” Why would God make us lie down in a beautiful setting? Wouldn’t green pastures automatically invite our presence without God making us lie in them?
Perhaps, our ridged schedules, our busy lifestyles, and our preconceived notions of what green pastures should look like hinders us from seeing God’s perspective of green pastures. Might it be possible that what we perceive as a misfortune could be God’s green pasture?
Take a moment to reflect upon your current condition. Might God be leading you to a green pasture and to quiet waters?
