August 28-Run with Endurance

I am not sure whether it is because we are at the end of a work-out week or whether my dogs are getting stronger, but I felt whipped today. Both Cali and Kirby ran strong and did not let up or show any mercy to the guy holding the two leashes. I think the excitement of finding the squirrel on the trail yesterday gave them an extra boost of adrenaline for today’s run.

There were times when I thought about giving up and walking. Truthfully, I actually did walk for a short way, however, for the most part, I kept on running. Besides, I was not going to let my dogs show me up and destroy my ego. We were on a run and I was determined to finish it.

Hebrews 12:1-2 states, “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…” (NAS).

Some of you may feel like this COVID pandemic is running you ragged. Perhaps you feel as though you are tied to two leashes that are relentlessly pulling you along life’s path. Strenuous exercise is not always fun. Sometimes we feel like quitting and giving up. I would encourage you to keep running the race. This COVID pandemic will not least forever and soon we will be able to freely appreciate activities that we may have taken for granted. Focus your mind on the end of the race and ask God to give you the strength to run with endurance.
