August 25-Following the Lead Dog

Updated: Aug 26, 2020

While babysitting Kirby, Cali’s best friend, I have decided to walk and run both dogs together. This morning, I took Cali and Kirby on a 2 ½ mile run. Cali is so used to running with me, she knows my subtle moves and directions. Since Kirby is new to our runs and walks, he follows slightly behind Cali and watches her lead. When we are about to pass another dog, I call out, “Rocks”, and with a very gentle tug, Cali goes up on the rocky part of the PE trail. This allows us to bypass any potential problems, especially small doggies.

John 10:27 states, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me…” (NAS). Do you listen to God’s voice when He calls out to you? Do you follow His lead like Kirby follows Cali’s? I think we all tend, periodically, to block out God’s voice with the noises of life.

I would suggest you make sure your spiritual leash is securely fastened to God’s hand and then listen to His voice. His voice often comes as a gentle tug on our hearts. If you feel that gentle tug, make sure to follow His lead. Ask yourself, Who is my lead dog?
