A Dog Diet
Yesterday, Southern California gave us a beautiful Spring Day. The sun was shining, the snow on the mountain tops was glistening, and it was a perfect setting for lunch on the patio. Kim and I decided it was too nice to eat inside so we gathered our plates and headed outdoors. Who was at the door to greet us? It was Cali with her nose in full working order. Cali knew all this food was for her. As she peered over the table-top, she could hardly decide what to eat first. There was one problem, none of the food was for her. Cali could not understand why Kim and I were keeping her away from her lunch. I knew that our food smelled good, however, it was not the best diet for an energetic and healthy dog. Our lunch time was ruined. After all, how can one fully enjoy a good meal with a pair of dog eyes giving the look (you dog people know what I mean). Realizing that Kim and I were not going to have a peaceful meal, I went in a brought out a freshly wrapped dog bone. The bone had all the smells and meat particles that would satisfy any dog palate. I gave Cali the bone and instantly our lunch, in her opinion, became dog food. She had the real thing. Cali ran over to the grass and gnawed the bone with utter delight. Cali had completely forgotten about the food on the patio table. The Apostle Paul states in Philippians 4:19, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus” (NLT). How many times have we prayed for something and not received our answer? During these times of unrest, we must trust that God knows what is best for us. Next time you are discouraged because God did not answer a prayer in the way you wished, try to remember that God is your personal dietitian and he knows what diet is best for you.
