April 23
We recently bought a fluffy indoor dog bed for Cali; however, she hates it. In fact, she has, until last night, resented staying indoors. We have tried to bring Cali inside during the evening hours so she could spend time with us but all she wanted to do was go outside. She is by nature an outdoor dog. Her kennel is outside, her dog dishes are outside, and all her toys are outside. Cali’s life is outside-until-last night. Around 9:00 PM, I noticed that Cali was drifting off to sleep. Instantly, a brilliant idea came to mind. I opened the screen door, let Cali in, led her to the dog bed, and surprisingly, she laid down. Kim and I froze; we didn’t move; and we waited. Cali’s head went down, she nestled into a comfy position, and then she dozed off for about ½ hour. We couldn’t believe it. In one moment of time, Cali graduated into an indoor dog. We celebrated with Cali; we praised her; and from that moment on, we knew we had a new dog. Lamentations 3:22-23 states, The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (NLT). God created a world that He wants us to explore and God created us to experience it. I would suggest that you try something new today. It might be driving home on a different road, taking a new route on your walk, starting a hobby, or adopting a dog. Whatever comes to your mind today, take the risk and try it out. God may be giving you an indoor dog bed experience.
