A Rainy Easter

April 13

Easter was a bit different for Southern Californians since we usually have bright, sunny days. However, yesterday was cloudy and rainy. By the end of the day, Cali was beside herself. Since it was rainy and we were celebrating Easter with family, Cali was not getting the amount of attention she deserved. After we had settled down for the evening, Cali informed us that it was now her turn for total attention. Kim and I decided to take her for a walk. When Cali saw the leash, she almost jumped out of her dog suit. I could hardly get the leash hooked onto her fast enough. Even though it was lightly raining, Kim and I took her for a one-mile walk. Later that night, I was contemplating on the strange weather we had for a Southern California Easter. It suddenly dawned on me the significance of a rainy Easter. Rain is what makes things grow. Do you remember the adage, “April showers bring May flowers?” The April showers reminded me that the radiant colors of May flowers would soon appear, and the tree’s leaves would soon shade the yards. The showers represented that death was over and life was beginning. Easter Sunday was the day Jesus rose from the grave. John 11:25-26 states, “…I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” While these earthly bodies will die one day, we will live forever with Jesus. Has the COVID-19 virus trapped you in a quarantine of despair, worry, or anxiety? Trust God that you may need this rainy time in life for something new to blossom. If you feel gloomy, remember, God may be taking you for a walk in the rain.
