Kim and I took Cali to a stream in Mount Baldy today. This was her first wilderness experience. Cali was excited about this adventure and her nose got a real workout. At first, Cali was not too sure about the fast-flowing water, however, she got used to it. At one point, Cali almost went into a deeper part of the stream. With a little encouragement, I think she might have gone in. I was hesitant about letting her go too far out since the water was flowing quickly and I did not want to perform a dog rescue. She enjoyed climbing the rocks, sniffing the plants, and drinking the cold snow melt. As we hiked farther up the stream, we met a couple with two of the smallest dogs I have ever seen. I thought they were newly born, however, Kim informed me they were full grown. The littlest one immediately went up to Cali. I was not sure whether Cali thought she had found a little friend or a dog treat. Everything turned out fine and we continued up the stream. We all had a quick snack and headed back to our Jeep. Psalm 23:2-3 states, “He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul…” (NAS). Has God given you a new experience lately? New experiences can be frightening at first. Given time, they can often turn out as blessings. Let God refresh your soul with the freshness of His Holy Spirit and let God turn your experiences into a mountain stream.
