April 4
I am amazed by Cali’s enthusiasm to go into her kennel each night. Cali prefers to be an outdoor dog. We have a big, fluffy bed for her in our living room which she barely tolerates. After about three minutes, she resolutely stands up and marches to the sliding door wanting out. I suppose Shepherds were originally bred to be hunters in the wild. Since Cali is of large dimension, she has a very big kennel. The kennel is outside, which she prefers. I have covered it with blankets on all sides. The blankets reach to the ground except the side which the door resides. This gives her an opportunity to see out. We have a large, comfy, padded floor liner and a soft blanket on top. To make thinks more ridiculously plush, I put her circular doggy bed on top of that. I can hardly open the door fast enough to put her round bed inside before she dashes to the back of the kennel and lays down. There is something about dogs that can make any bed look inviting. I suppose the kennel gives her protection and security during her hours of Hilton-style comfort. Do you feel as though you are in a stage of life whereby you can not see outside? Do you feel lonely, hopeless, anxious, and wondering where God might be hiding? Moses prayed that he could see the glory of the Lord. God granted him that wish and said, “…Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; and it will come about while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by” (Exodus 33:21-22; NAS). When you feel that lonely and helpless feeling, rest assured God is placing you in His kennel for the night.
Blessings,
Mervin
